Event #1: Calling It A Night

Florentino Feeling Good

After more than 14 hours of play, Day 1 of the Borgata Winter Open is in the books. While it will be several hours until we know for sure who the chip leader is, rest assure that Florentino Deleon (Joppa, MD) will be in the top 10.

"I'm feeling good," says Deleon adding, "I'm still here," possibly the under statement of the day. His big hand comes from rolling the dice with Q-7 on a flush draw for a 200k pot. "I had him covered and would still have a hundred thousand, so why not," Florentino says laughing.

Tournament officials stop the clock with 8 minutes left on Level 16 (3k/6k/500 ante) so players can bag, tag and be out the door by 2 am.

Approximately 275 players, with the average stack of 140k, return at noon for a shot at the nearly $100,000 top prize.

Official chip counts will be posted later this morning.

Event #2 NL ($500 + $60) kicks off at 11 am.

Good night and see you back on the blog in a couple of hours!
